Who We Are
The Chris Kyle Frog Foundation (CKFF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded by Taya Kyle to honor the life and legacy of her husband, “American Sniper” Chris Kyle.
Chris and Taya knew first-hand the challenges military families encounter from their lives of service. They experienced their own trials as both individuals and as a couple. They were blessed to know many other couples in both the military and first responder communities. The issues these marriages face are strikingly similar. The camaraderie amongst those with hearts for service led Chris and Taya to their discussions of how to continue serving those who serve our nation.
Prior to Chris’ untimely passing in February 2013, he was developing his vision for CKFF programs to support military and first responder marriages and families. Today, Taya and the CKFF team are fulfilling Chris’ vision through the development and delivery of life-changing, impactful programs and services to support couples and their families across our nation.
The mission of the Chris Kyle Frog Foundation (CKFF) is to Honor GOD, Country and Families who serve. It is focused on changing the world for this generation and the next by recognizing and strengthening military and first responder marriages through unique programs and powerful partnerships.
CKFF is built on four solid pillars:
- Loyalty: Committed to God, Country, and Families who serve
- Empowerment: Empowering families to thrive
- Integrity: Honesty and transparency in our programs, funding and communications
- Excellence: Reflecting the service excellence that our constituents provide in service to their communities and country
Chris Kyle is perhaps most widely known as the most lethal sniper in United States military history, but this title was not something Chris enjoyed. Chris always said the number he cared most about was the number of lives he saved, not the ones he killed. He was raised as an all-American cowboy who loved God, his country and his family.
Chris was a humble man who only wrote his autobiography, American Sniper because other authors were wanting to write a book about him. In writing it himself, he knew he would also be able to give credit to those he served with.
Chris made the difficult decision in 2009 to get out of the military to save his marriage. After eleven years of combat deployments, the time came to choose between his family and war. He chose his family.
In 2012, Chris’ autobiography American Sniper was released. Chris was one-of-a-kind and so is the story of his life. The inclusion of Taya’s point-of-view made the book even more relatable, reaching an even wider audience. It quickly soared to #1 on the New York Times Best Seller List and remained on the list for over 40 weeks.
In December 2014, the major motion picture adaptation of American Sniper was released. Sharing the same name as the book, American Sniper is directed by the masterful Clint Eastwood and stars Bradley Cooper as Chris Kyle. Sienna Miller is a powerful presence in the movie playing Taya Kyle.
In the movie, viewers may see Chris’ tattoos. One on his right shoulder blade of a frog skeleton honoring his fallen SEAL brothers who went before him, and one of a cross on his left arm. At the time of his death, he was working with graphic designers to have his tattoos combined into a logo he could use as his stamp of approval for his endorsements. It is this logo with a cross through the right eye for his fallen brother, Ryan Job, that represents the Chris Kyle Frog Foundation.
Taya Kyle is the driving force behind, and Executive Director of, the Chris Kyle Frog Foundation. Determined to continue Chris’ legacy of service, and their joint passion for helping others, Taya has built the foundation on the spirit she and Chris shared.
One of the main tenets of the Chris Kyle Frog Foundation is the undeniable truth: when one person serves in the military, police, fire or paramedic unit, the entire family serves. A woman of strength, Taya is an inspirational leader in bringing understanding and comfort with the fight for military and first responder marriages and families.
With the help of the Chris Kyle Frog Foundation team, she has created a network of families and organizations that will continue to support marriages and families of our servicemembers in unique and powerful ways.
Taya Kyle is an American Daughter, American Mom, and an American Wife who will continue to forge ahead with Chris’ spirit.
