Richard “Andy” Loller is the first of the 18 ‘Fallen Heroes’ that will be honored at the 2018 Chris Kyle Legendary Golf Classic to be held at Tierra Verde Golf Club, Arlington, TX on Tuesday, November 6.
Born on February 26, 2976, Andy started his fire service as a volunteer firefighter at Hudson Oaks Fire Department, Texas in 2002.
Shortly after, he attended fire academy at Weatherford College and became a paid firefighter at Hudson Oaks in 2005.
Andy rose to the rank of Lieutenant/EMT before he transitioned to Weatherford Fire Department in 2013 as a firefighter.
On June 10, 2018, Andy was on a wildfire deployment scouting a fire line in the mountains of Fort Davis, TX. While hiking the fire line near the top of the mountain with his crew, Andy suffered from a medical emergency. The wildland crew cleared trees on the top of the mountain and he was airlifted to the hospital in Alpine and stabilized. Andy was then placed on a fixed wing aircraft and flown to Odessa for additional care. While on the flight Andy went into cardiac arrest and despite the valiant efforts of his wildland crew and all medical staff involved, he succumbed to his injury.
Andy was a craftsman of the fire service and a true servant at work and home. He was a loving husband, father and brother. Andy was also an avid outdoors man and enjoyed hunting, fishing and shooting.
