HONORING GOD, COUNTRY, AND FAMILIES WHO SERVE

Chris Kyle Legendary Classic huge success

Taya Kyle greets golfers at Tierra Verde

The first annual Chris Kyle Legendary Classic at Tierra Verde Golf Club in Arlington, TX was a huge success.

A sellout number of golfers took to the challenging course to begin Veterans Day celebrations in the city of Arlington.

The event is the brainchild of Arlington Constable Clint Burgess – a long time friend of Chris and Taya Kyle – with the event benefitting the Chris Kyle Frog Foundation.

Taya Kyle officially opened proceedings and greeted each golfer as they went out to take on the 18 holes.

Pleasingly, many first responders, military service people and veterans were part of the golfing corps and stayed long into the night to listen to some of Texas finest talents play under the stars, headlined by country music rising star Coffey Anderson.

Sponsorships for the event were also extremely strong with RJ Carroll and company taking the naming rights.

Already planning is well underway for 2018s event with golfers and sponsors reaching out to organizers to be placed on the shortlist for when registrations open.

Golfers were greeted by a mile long corridor of 1000 American flags which set the mood of patriotism ahead of the event that honored not only one of Texas’ favorite sons in Chris Kyle, but 18 legends from the military and first responder communities in surrounding counties – many of whom paid the ultimate price during their service.

Flags lining the streets to Tierra Verde

The flags generated much discussion in the local community too and were popular among attendees. The City of Arlington received an email from a local resident about the impact that the flags had on him and generated discussion about Veterans Day with his grandson.

It embodies the ripple effect – none of us can do it all but we can all do something.

“Just wanted to say the American flags on Eden and into Tierra Verde made us speechless and gave us a patriotic feeling…reminding us of our freedom and Veterans Day…driving my grandkids to school past the flags gave me the opportunity to explain Veterans Day to them. Thank you and Thank You for the tournament you had.”

Planning is underway for the 2018 Chris Kyle Legendary Classic and information about the event can be found at www.chriskylegolf.com.
