Christopher A. Celiz is the second Hero that will be honored at the Chris Kyle Legendary Classic Golf tournament to be held at Tierra Verde Golf Club, Arlington TX on Tuesday, November 6.


Sgt. Celiz enlisted in the Army in September of 2007. After completing Basic and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, he was assigned to Company E, 2nd Battalion, 7th Calvary Regiment, Fort Hood, Texas, as a combat engineer and a team leader. Also during his time at Fort Hood, he was transferred to Company C, 4th Brigade Special Troops Battalion as a team leader.

He was selected to serve with the 75th Ranger Regiment in 2013 as a combat engineer. He was on his fifth deployment with 1st Bn., 75th Rgr. Rgt. when he was wounded by enemy small arms fire in the Paktiya province. He was evacuated to the nearest medical treatment center, but later died from his injuries.

Celiz, an Army Ranger, was assigned to Company D, 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, Hunter Army Airfield, Georgia, at the time of his death on July 12 this year.

Chris was a loving husband and father. He served our country with great passion and his positive attitude inspired so many of those that served with him.

The Chris Kyle Legendary Classic will honor 18 heroes from the military and first responder corps in the leadup to and right through the Golf Tournament that will form part of the City of Arlington’s Veterans Day Week activities.
